The pristine, 250-head Bordessa dairy ranch
sits on the Sonoma/Marin County, CA line at the Estero Americano. Owned
by Gary Bordessa, a fourth-generation dairyman, and his wife Sandy, the
granddaughter of a Marin County dairy family.
In 1976, the couple
bought their first dairy in Tillamook County, Oregon, and in 1983
purchased their Sonoma County dairy, which had already been a working
dairy for over 100 years. The family also purchased what is now the
Ocean Breeze Organic dairy in 2003.
Gary and Sandy’s two sons, Gino
and Jarrid are also actively involved in the family business, with Gino
overseeing the Bordessa Dairy and Jarrid managing Ocean Breeze, keeping
the tradition alive into its fifth generation, with more to come.
“We are very proud of the fact that we have built a successful
dairy business and we love what we do. We like being involved with
a hometown company like Clover Stornetta. It feels good to be part of a
family business where we feel a bond with the other dairies, and
are proud to be a part of the Clover family, Clover’s North Coast
Excellence Program provides us with the knowledge that we’re doing the
right thing and consumers want the milk we produce. It’s part of what
makes our milk unique.”
